As an animation student, calling the light fury design lazy really annoys me. While creating female characters to look smooth/soft is a trope, her design is clearly meant to be sleeker due to the subterranean world/semi aquatic world they suggest she comes from thus, her aquatic features e.g her tail and back fin. I see posts ‘fixing her design’ by editing her to look like a Toothless re-colour and THAT is what I call lazy design. People need to understand that the team know what they’re doing.

See this is what I was saying. I know it’s a trope to make female creatures look “female” but honestly? This light fury design is more than just doing that there are practical reasons to her looking the way she does. It’s not like with the other dragons where male and female dragons are just the same. They seem to forget a night fury and a light fury aren’t the same sub species. It’s like taking a German Shepard and a Labrador. They’re both compatible as they’re both dogs, but they look different for certain reasons. It’s not just like two deadly nadders or two zipplebacks. They’re different variants of a species. If you were to just get toothlesses model and make it white that would be stupid as they’re not meant to look the same they’re different variants of what is the ‘fury’ branch of the dragon species they’re going to have differences between them. Also I’m pretty sure she’s not the only light fury I’m sure someone said that? So if she’s not the only one there are going to be other light furys both male and female who look that way?
