this will be a nice lil companion piece to this post, and much like Lee Gaara does have a laundry list of things he loves about Lee

1. how beautiful and bright Lee’s smile is; the fact that he smiles with everything he has; how warm and happy and loved it makes Gaara feel even when Lee isn’t smiling directly at him
2. how Lee manages to put so much fucking passion into every little thing he says and does
3. that lee says ‘i love you’ literally every single chance he gets
4. when lee whispers ‘i love you’ in quiet, intimate moments because it feels so different from his usual ‘i love you’s; it feels so raw and powerful and vivid. it’s like sensory overload but in a good way. the quiet of his voice is so contrary to everything that he normally is, but it’s somehow so much more than when it’s being shouted or even just said at normal volume (gaara may secretly be a romantic) 
5. he loves the way lee tries to stay awake sometimes to keep him company. lee is very strict about his routine and always goes to bed at 9, but sometimes he tries to stay up late with Gaara when he’s got a lot of work. he always falls asleep by ten without fail. 
6. the way lee sleeps–similar to 4, lee is so different when he sleeps and gaara feels privileged to get to see lee so quiet and peaceful
7. how easily embarrassed lee gets, especially over inappropriate jokes.
8. how easily lee fits in with his siblings despite being so different from them 
9. the scars on lee’s body that aren’t from their fight–they show how strong lee is, how much he’s overcome. gaara enjoys tracing his fingers along the scars idly. he avoids the ones he caused though 
10. the way lee immediately drapes himself over gaara’s lap the moment gaara climbs into bed and the little happy noises he makes because even though he’s dead asleep he somehow knows it’s gaara and is happier for his presence 
11. the way lee never gives up on anything
12. his little turtle mouth
13. his fighting style
14. the fact that lee was the first person to ever get past his sand–it feels important to gaara because he is a romantic even if he doesn’t realise it
15. the way lee never lets gaara speak poorly of himself even though gaara is really just trying to state facts like “i was a monster once” and “i did have a body count before i was twelve”. lee always says silly things like “you were never a monster! you were just a scared child!” and “you only killed in self-defense! they were trying to kill you first!” 
16. how strong lee is but how gentle he manages to be. 
17. lee’s sleepy ‘good morning, gaara’ 
18. the way lee’s kisses make the rest of the world melt away until all that’s left is just the two of them and gaara is overwhelmed by love and feeling and how safe he is in lee’s arms that feel somehow more powerful and better able to protect him than even his sand
